GNCC Wrapup

Well, we made it through the first two rounds of the 2006 GNCC series. We got a 6th in Florida with a 23rd overall, and a class 11th with a 49th overall at The General in Georgia. Scott is currently in 4th place in his class. Not a bad way to start the year. The funny thing is he was only about 16 seconds from a higher place in each event. The competition was fierce and the tracks were tough and challenging. We have had almost a week to get back to normal. It is really hard to get back to the normal routine after two exciting weeks traveling around to all the races and fast pace. Georgia had about 1700 competitors over the two day event. The place was packed! The weather was perfect, and we got tons of pictures. The Yawn family drove up Sunday to hang out at the track and David competed in his first GNCC. He said it was one of the roughest courses he has ever ridden.

Georgia has a new series!
We found out last week that Georgia has a new series. The series will startup on April 2nd in Aonia Georgia. The series will cover Georgia, Alabama, and Tennessee. They will have plenty of classes for everyone and a series banquet. Looks good! You can check out the event dates here. Everyone in the surrounding area needs to support this series. It will be so nice to have a series in the area where we can travel and compete on this level.

We will have a little break before the SORCS series to get ready. Cam is getting ready, he pulled out his bike and started getting it prepped. This will be his first race of the year. Actually, it will be his first race since the 2005 Summer Sizzler Series put on by the Johnsons.

The General GNCC

We are back from The General GNCC. What a race! Scott started on the next to last row. He had to really charge through the field. He finished 11th in his class of 39, and 49th overall out of approximately 280. He had a good race, except for a problem with a utility rider that held him up, but overall not a bad weekend. We were excited about his class finish but really excited about the overall, he had to pass a LOT of people to get 49th overall from his starting position.

The Georgia race is always exciting and fun. Over the course of the weekend, over 1700 people competed in the event! Ty Blair got a good finish, 3rd I think, and Sean Callahan got a 8th but Derek had a nasty crash that resulted in a busted up bike and a broken wrist and messed up shoulder. Taylor Johnson had a bad crash, but only the bike was injured. David Yawn competed in his first GNCC.

It looks like we are through with the GNCC series for a while. A new series is starting up in Georgia that looks exciting. We will be competing in it. It is the Southern Offroad Championship Series . It will cover three states in the southeast. We want to encourage everyone to support this series. It will be great to have a big series here in Georgia. Tell your friends about it and check out the races.

Competing in the Florida and Georgia rounds of the GNCC was a lot of fun. Not knowing how the new bike would perform had us concerned, but it was in the ballpark. We traveled a lot and the races were exciting and very competitive. We thank God for the answered prayers and keeping everyone safe. We are also thankful to our sponsors . We have some great sponsors that do a great job supporting the sport.

That's about it for now.

We Made it......

We are now in Thomson and settled into the hotel. Scott and Cam are going to the track to register and meet up with Ty, Derek and Sean. We arrived in plenty of time to get settled in and enjoy supper without being rushed. I will be editing the Orange Crush pictures and uploading them to the web page. The weather is slightly overcast and we did run into some rain. It doesn't look like it has rained a lot around here (at least we hope it hasn't rained much).

Hopefully, we can get a good nights sleep and hit the track first thing in the morning. I am going to try to update the blog this weekend while we are up here at the track.

Update:
I have updated the web gallery. The pics for the Orange Crush have been posted.

Ready for the General GNCC

Well, we are all packed up and ready to go. I think everyone is ready for the second leg of the GNCC series, The General GNCC in Washington, GA. Scott had a great race in Florida, and we have made a few changes to the bike to hopefully make it just a little better. He now has one race under his belt with the new quad, and is looking forward to the second race.

We will meet Scott this evening in Thomson Georgia. This is where most of the GNCC competitors stay. Everyone is hyped up and ready to go.

WooHoo, Orange Crush in the Bag!

If nothing else, the Orange Crush is exciting! The weather was great and the track was typical Florida, sandy and filled with whoops. We got to the track on Saturday and found Ty, Derek, and Sean. We had a perfect pit spot. Now on to the race.....

Scott got a mid-pack start, not bad. However, he got caught up in a first turn crash. He got started almost last! At the end of the first lap, he fought his way up to 11th place. The track was brutal, and the heat was taking it's toll. At the end of the second lap, Scott had moved up to 8th place. He held the 8th position for another lap. On the last lap he moved up to 6th place. He came across the finish line in 6th place just 15 seconds behind 5th. Not a bad day, especially considering the first turn crash! Even better, Scott finished 23rd overall in a field of 220 participants. Needless to say, we were pumped! He was the highest placing Georgia rider in the 220 participant field. In fact when checking the stats, Scott was the highest placing Georgia rider in both races. You can't change the results, and we are ecstatic with the results, but you can't help but wonder where he would have finished without the crash. But we never second guess the results, we are very thankful for the outcome.

It was really good to see Ty and Derek again. We made a new friend with Sean Callahan. Sean brought his hauler down and invited us to join them in the pit area. We had a great time and would like to say thanks to Sean for being so hospitable! That is one of the things about these GNCC events, you meet some of the nicest people. We pitted next to the Fulkersons. Jennifer Fulkerson, from Kentucky, was competing in her first event since getting back from Iraq. She was deployed in Iraq and got back late last year. We had the opportunity to meet her and speek to her husband during the race. You have a lot of really nice folks at the track. All in all, it was a good day, Out of our group, the AM riders came back in one piece and felt pretty good. Ty got 3rd in his class, Sean got 9th, and Derek had a fuel problem and only finished one lap.

Now, it's time to get ready for the General in Aonia Georgia. Not a lot of time and a lot of work to do! Gotta go, more updates to come........

We Made it

Well, we are in De Leon Springs. The trip went ok, no problems. It did take a long time to get through Silver Springs! This years turnout is huge at the track! We found Derek and Ty easy and checked out the track and pits. We easily found the hotel in Deland and found supper. We are going to settle in and get some rest. The race starts at 10:00 AM tomorrow morning.

I hope everything goes OK......

Countdown to the GNCC Orange Crush

The kickoff to the GNCC, the Orange Crush, is only two days away. We will be leaving early on Saturday headed to De Leon Springs Florida. As far as getting the bike ready, it is going down to the wire. We are going to be ready, but it is going to be close. There is so much new about this bike and not all the parts are ready yet.

We had to spend a lot of time this week getting the jetting right. It took several days to get it dialed in. We still have a few things to do to tweak it, but it is close for now. We won't really be ready until tonight. Then we will pack up and head for Florida. We will have to stop off in Valdosta and pick up Cam. He is in a tennis tournament at Valdosta State. After we pick him up, it will take about 3 1/2 hours to get to the track. It is going to be very interesting racing a new, untried bike in a national event.
Stay tuned......
