SORCS Round Seven 2009

Richie Brown Wins Pro Class

Highpoint Raceway in Perry Georgia, our home track. This is where we started racing. I remember Scott's first race on this course. He came in third and had a smile on his face so big you could tell he was totally jazzed about what just happened. This track holds a lot of memories. Everyone knows Highpoint and everyone know the Johnson family. It's kinda special to win a race at Highpoint. It is a tough, fast, legendary track. It seems that it is either muddy, dusty or even both in one day. You have to be fast, smart and smooth to win on this track, and that definition fits Richie Brown to a T! I know it is a lot of work and it takes a lot of skill, but Richie makes it look almost easy. In the first woods section, he was carving lines and just flowing like the trees weren't even there. It is a real treat to watch Richie ride. By the end of the race, Richie had a commanding lead. I talked to him after the race and he did have one altercation, it seems he drifted off the track and picked up a bunch of vines, and had an arguement with some type of wire that left a nasty cut on his neck. But in the end, he picked up the checkered flag first and that's what counts. Max Seagraves took the lead at the start of the race with Richie and Brian Toney close behind in that order. Zach Lovell was in fourth. After the first lap, Richie checked out and the race ended with Richie, Max, Brian and Zach coming across the line in that order. We didn't stay for the final results so I can't really say how the other classes ended. I did notice a good many DNF's, but round 7 was a tough course. Plus it was hot and dusty! Very dusty, and it seemed the dust just lingered. We did have a crash on the first lap but I didn't get the condition on the rider. He hope they are OK.

It was great to see all of our friends and visit with everyone. We really enjoyed talking with everyone and visiting for a while. We have had several people ask what we have been up to, and I am going to post an entry soon on what's been happening with the Rogers family in 2009. Although we haven't been racing, it's been anything but boring!

Be sure to check out the photos on our web page. Brenda got some great photos as usual. We hope you enjoy them. I got some photos, but I am still learning this photography stuff and it's not as easy as it looks!

Maybe we will see everyone soon, but honestly, it is going to have to cool down some to get me away from the lake!

In the meantime, take care, God Bless, later.............
