2007 SORCS Round 11

Scott Takes Win and Overall at Broadriver

In the final race of the 2007 SORCS series, Scott Rogers captures the win in the ATV Pro class, Cameron Rogers gets second in the ATV A class, and the season ends on a high note for CSR Racing.

On September 9th, the SORCS regulars converged on the Broadriver ATV riding resort for the season finale. CSR racing arrived early on Saturday, to check in to a cabin relax and visit with friends. As usual, Broadriver was an excellent host to the race. The cabin was great and we had a nice relaxing day before the race. After a cookout we visited with friends and got a good nights sleep.

On race day, everyone was in good spirits and we all gathered to setup the pits and visit for possibly the last time this year. Scott was in very good spirits and Cam was his normal self (he always feels good). I sensed a feeling of excitement, apprehension, and relief. Excitement in hitting the track and having one last time this season to grab a win or improve your standings. Apprehension knowing that the last Broadriver race was super dusty, tight and technical. Relief in knowing that if we make through this race, we will have completed another season. If everything goes well, we will have had a good year.

When the guys lined up for the start, tension was high as normal. They were facing a dry, dusty 11 mile course. The course had already been attacked by the AM race and was going to be a challenge. When the flag dropped, Scott grabbed the holeshot. As far as I can remember, this is the first holeshot for him this year. After hitting the first turn, he checked out. Zach Lovell came through in second and Trevor Schrantz rounded out the top three.
Scott came through for the first lap, and I could tell that he was feeling good. He was flying, hitting his marks and looked very smooth. The Pro class was cutting fast laps as usual, and no one was letting up. With a clear track ahead, Scott kept setting a fast pace, and never let up until the checkered flag flew. When they came around for the final lap, it was Scott taking the win, with Zach second and Trevor third. Zach has his share of problems during the race, tweaking both A arms on his new Yamaha YFZ. Scott was feeling pretty good, taking the holeshot, grabbing the win as well as the overall! Congratulations Scott, your hard work payed off. We are very proud of you!

In the ATV A class, the competition was heavy as usual. Cam did not get the best of starts and had to fight his way through the pack. Chuck Norris grabbed the holeshot, with Austin Allen taking third going into the first turn and Cam hit the first turn in fourth. At some point during the dusty course, Cam passed Austin for the third spot. On the second lap, Chuck got a flat tire that ended his day. Cam and Austin had a great race. They fought hard and were really charging for the last six or seven miles. We are very proud of Cam, not only for his second place finish, but I think this is probably the best race he has had all year. I could tell that Cam was pushing it hard and he never backed down. Congrats Cam! I also want to say congrats to Austin for having a great year as well. Austin races hard, never gives up and always races fair.

Our friend Michael Tatum had a rough race, crashing out and doing damage to the front-end. Michaels day ended early with the damage. The track was tough enough without having steering problems. Michael finished Round twelve in fifth place. The winner of the C class was Danny McElwaney. The Quad B winner was Brad Thompson. The Quad Vet win went to Michael Thomas with Brian Schrantz finishing third. Quad senior winner was John Pilkey. Jacob Coffey took another win in the Quad beginner class. Jacob has had a great year. Looks like he will be moving up next year. Mike Coffey came out to race and finished third in the Quad Utility class. Victor Garcia won with Mark Coffey taking second.
In the Womens class, Kristy Fortenberry took another win, with Kristen Deloach finishing second. Laura Strother finished third and Kelly Deloach took forth.
I can't forget our two wheeled friends. Bill Bryant finished in third. Bill has had a great season. Looks like Bill will be on the podium at the banquet. Josh shields finished seventh. Josh got the best start of his season this year. He came off the line in second! Josh had a good season. I think he is already ready for next season.

In other racing news, a couple of KTM Quads showed up at the race. They were looking sharp. The bikes appeared stock. One of the KTM pilots was a 14 year old in the quad beginner class. I'm not sure how the KTM's finished, but I did notice the young rider looked like the stock suspension was too firm for his light weight. I am sure we will see plenty more of the bikes next year, and I expect KTM to really charge to the front. With the addition of the KTM, the Can-Am and the new Kawasaki, next year should be interesting.

Needless to say Scott and Cam were really pumped after the race. It was a good ride home! Everyone has basically been chilling out the week after the race, I think everyone was pretty tired after the season.

CSR Racing would like to thank all of our sponsors for such great support during the series. We could not have done it without them! All of the staff at Shamrock Honda in Dublin Georgia for some of the best support anyone could ask for. Greg, Stephanie, Larry Terry and Tony was always there when we needed them. After the first race in Aonia, we really thought Scotts season was over. Larry and Terry came to the rescue and got the engine back together for Round Two and it held up for the rest of the season. Wes Bearden and Bearden Race Fuels for all the race fuel. Thanks Wes! MSR has been great this year. They are second to none. EVS for the safety equipment. We also want to thank: Fasst, HiPer, Kenda, PowerMadd, Scott USA, Big Gun, ASV, IMS, Rated X Motorsports, Cardio Stack and Turbo Blue. We also want to thank all our friends. Racing is fun and winning is fun but without friends it would be pretty shallow. If we don't see you until next season, take care and stay in touch. Maybe we will get together for a nice calm ride at Durhamtown or Broadriver when things cool off. Be sure to check out the pictures. Brenda is editing the pictures this time, next thing you know she will be editing the web page and writing the blog! I also want to thank Telida Lovell for taking the picture of the whole gang. It is very seldom that we are all in a photo together.
Until next time, take care God Bless, see you later.....
