SORCS Winter Nationals Wrap-Up

Rogers #448 Finishes out the SORCS Winter Nationals strong with 2nd in Quad "A" points!

Going into round 1 of the SORCS Winter Nationals, I really didn't know what to expect out of myself. It had been 5 years since I had competed regularly in any series at all. But I was confident in my bike set up thanks to all of my awesome new sponsors that are standing behind me for the 2014 season. The only thing I had doubts about was how my body would hold up. Of course racing is like riding a bike, after you get the hang of it everything just comes natural, however endurance is key in cross country racing.

So round one went pretty well for me. I was lined up with 17 riders on the start and half of the racers were GNCC regulars, 3 of which had national championships behind their belts. I was surprised that I wasn't nervous at all, but my plan was to stay calm, run a consistent speed, and be present at the finish! I was able to execute my plan, although I didn't get a top 5 finish I did come in a solid 8th place finish. Racing against some of the competition I was up against, I think that I held my own out there.

After Round one I knew where I stood. I knew what I needed to work on, I made a few changes to the quad and my body wasn't as out of shape as I thought. So going into round two I felt more comfortable overall. I knew what I had to do, and had all my ducks in a row as far as bike prep and making sure everything was ready for race day. After five years off, everything was slowly coming back to me.

Round 2 went a little better for me. We lined up on the starting line in 30 degree weather at 11 pm in Sparta, Ga! Talk about cold weather for a Georgia boy. Even though I am not too crazy about the cold weather, I was still excited to be at the track doing what I love. So we took off the line after the green flag dropped and of course, like the first race I started in dead last again! At this point I couldn't figure the kicker out. Anyways, we took off and the first couple of miles I gained about four positions. Soon after that I got into a fight with a vine hanging from a tree and of course I lost. Don't you just hate those things? I had to get off of the quad and get all untangled and I was off again. Not but a few miles after getting hung up with the vine, I got off course and got up close and personal to a wonderful oak tree. Yet again I had to get off of the quad, get back on track, and play catch up. At this point in the race I was a little bit discouraged, however pouting about a situation never solves anything, so I put my head down and didn't stop until the checkered flag dropped! Thankfully the rest of the race went fairly smooth after the first lap and I was able to work my way to a 6th place finish and I was very content with my finish, especially after the problems I encountered on the first lap .

Round 3 was also 30 degree as we arrived at the track early Saturday morning (Brrrr). But we all crowded up around the propane heater, had a good time and shared stories from previous rounds and of course told each other how bad we were going to beat each other that day on the track. Well once again Round 3 went pretty bad for me on the starting line. I got a last place start, but I soon got into a real good rhythm that would carry me to an eighth place finish. Although my finish wasn't that great I felt I put in a good solid race and gained a few points for the series, which of course is very important to me. In cross country racing it is very important to try and keep your quad together and more important keep your body healthy for good season ending results.

At this point I was back into the full swing of the racing scene. I had a routine maintenance plan for my quad, my body was beat back into shape, and it didn't take me long to have the trailer loaded up with everything I needed on race day. Going into round 4 I definitely had confidence on my side. When we arrived at the track the weather was fair, temperature was in the 50's with an overcast sky above us. Now the track at Whiteway Plantation is awesome but it's tight and I knew it would be hard to pass on.  So I knew I needed to get a good start, with my dad figuring out a solution to my starting problems and after practicing it the previous weeks I knew I could get out front early for the tight track we were about to encounter. The green flag dropped and what do you know, I went into the first turn in 2nd place! Talked about pumped, this guy was grinning from ear to ear, of course while keeping the throttle pinned to maintain the position that I started in. As the first lap went on we had a tight group of 5-6 riders. The whole first lap I tried my hardest to get around the first place rider by taking alternate lines but it just wasn't happening with how tight the track was! Anyways at the end of the first lap I went sideways and got tangled up with a tree, which resulted with five guys getting around me and me getting off of the quad to get back on the track. Fortunately I didn't lose too much time and was able to keep the other racers in my sight. After this happened I was determined more than ever to catch up and make some passes. So I laid the hammer down for the remainder of the two hour race and picked off racers one by one until I settled for a 3rd place finish by the time the checkered flag dropped. I was extremely happy with my finish and was glad to finally see all of the hard work starting to pay off.

Going into Round 5, I was sitting  2nd in points for the winter nationals series, just one point ahead of my buddy Blake Chirdon 3rd in points and just a few points ahead of John Glauda Sr. who was sitting 4th in points. Since first place was out of the questions due to Jordan Phillips wrapping up the championship at the previous round, I knew I had to put on a solid run to secure 2nd. The last round of the SORCS Winter Nationals was hosted at none other than my home track at Highpoint Farms located in Perry, Ga. I had plenty of family and friends in attendance, so not only did I want to secure my place in points I also wanted do put on a good performance for those that took time out of their day to come support me. When we arrived at the track it was already a given that it would be a muddy race after all the rain we had received the week prior to the race. Muddy races can go goo or bad for a racer, you just never know until it is all said and done. Once again my quad fired up instantly on the dead engine start and I entered the first turn in  the 3rd place position. I was able to edge out the 2nd place racer before entering the woods and a few miles into the woods I gained the 1st place postion. Being in 1st place on the 1st lap sometimes isn't the best place to be, however I stayed calm, kept my composure, and just tried to make no mistakes if possible. At the end of the first lap I came around the pit area and all I could see was every family member and friend jumping up and down, waving their hands, cheering me on, and I just felt the energy as I raced on to the second lap. I was riding very good, however I was passed by two racers on the second lap, but with a grueling race ahead of us I knew that it wasn't over. As the race went on I maintained my 3rd place position with little to no mistakes throughout the race. Coming through the scoring tent, I noticed on the read out screen that I was a minute and thirty seconds behind second place. Coming out of the scoring tent out of the corner of my eye I saw my brother (Scott) waving me on and telling me to get with it, and get with it I did! Entering the woods for the last lap I put the pedal to the metal and turned it up a notch. What do you know, that extra momentum on the final lap put me into the second place position less than a mile from the finish. I ended out the Winter Nationals with my highest finish of the year in a very solid 2nd place and 2nd in points. That just goes to show you, no matter how far behind you are never give up! Its never to late to turn things around.

With all of that being said, obviously I didn't make all of this happen on my own. So I would like to close out thanking my awesome family, friends, and sponsors. Without my mom and dad none of this would have been possible, with their guidance I have been able to do more on my own as far as this racing gig goes. Its not that I don't need their help anymore, but I have learned from their examples and were able to put what I have learned from them to use. My brother Scott has also been a huge help! Even though we are two completely different people, when we are out in the shop we know how to get work done no matter what our differences are. (He's super anal about his shop though, come on bro lighten up. There is nothing wrong with a spec of dirt on the floor every once in a while.lol). B.J. and Taylor aka the pit crew. What can I say about those guys? Well B.J. is addicted to red bull and Taylor likes to sleep on the way to the track. Need I say more about how exciting our trips are? There is never a dull moment with me and my boys and I enjoy hanging out and being a team with them. Thanks for being at the races with me boys! I would also like to send a huge thanks to all of my sponsors. I am a hundred percent confident in all of my sponsors products and services that they offer. Fly Racing, GT Thunder, Fasst co., Spider Graphix, EKS Brand goggles, Mud Motorsports, DC Cycle, Rath Racing, Tireblocks, and Gaerne boots have been a huge help. Thanks guys, I will continue to represent you in a professional manor and give you the results that you, your products, and your services deserve for the remainder of the year!

....until next time keep the throttle pinned and the rubber side down

CSR Racing "Racing again"

After a five year break, CSR Racing is back at it again. In 2013, Cameron decided he wanted to do a little racing. He was finished with school and had the career thing going so it seemed like as good a time as any. Let's face it, he ain't gettin' any younger!

So, he sold all of his mud bogging toys and purchased a TRX450R, and starting building it up. His first return race was in July 2013 at "The Swimmin' Hole" in Northwest Georgia. It was a SORCS event. After leading the race for several laps, he finished 2nd after an encounter with a tree.

After this race, he started the training process, sending out resumes for sponsorships, getting the trailer rebuilt, brushing up on his wrenching skills (this was the tough part) and getting ready for the SORCS Winter Series. He was a busy guy.

He has completed the SORCS Winter Series (details later) and is preparing for The GNCC opener. This is something he has wanted to do for a long time! He was too young to race GNCC back in the early days. Hopefully we will see all of our racing friends in Florida in March.

Yes, Scott has built a Quad as well, and obtained sponsorship. It is a Honda TRX450.  He will probably be racing selected events.

We will be updating the CSRRacing web site, and posting all of Brenda's photos. In the mean time, we still have a ton of photos from years ago, so go check those out.

Stay tuned and take care!

SORCS Round Seven 2009

Richie Brown Wins Pro Class

Highpoint Raceway in Perry Georgia, our home track. This is where we started racing. I remember Scott's first race on this course. He came in third and had a smile on his face so big you could tell he was totally jazzed about what just happened. This track holds a lot of memories. Everyone knows Highpoint and everyone know the Johnson family. It's kinda special to win a race at Highpoint. It is a tough, fast, legendary track. It seems that it is either muddy, dusty or even both in one day. You have to be fast, smart and smooth to win on this track, and that definition fits Richie Brown to a T! I know it is a lot of work and it takes a lot of skill, but Richie makes it look almost easy. In the first woods section, he was carving lines and just flowing like the trees weren't even there. It is a real treat to watch Richie ride. By the end of the race, Richie had a commanding lead. I talked to him after the race and he did have one altercation, it seems he drifted off the track and picked up a bunch of vines, and had an arguement with some type of wire that left a nasty cut on his neck. But in the end, he picked up the checkered flag first and that's what counts. Max Seagraves took the lead at the start of the race with Richie and Brian Toney close behind in that order. Zach Lovell was in fourth. After the first lap, Richie checked out and the race ended with Richie, Max, Brian and Zach coming across the line in that order. We didn't stay for the final results so I can't really say how the other classes ended. I did notice a good many DNF's, but round 7 was a tough course. Plus it was hot and dusty! Very dusty, and it seemed the dust just lingered. We did have a crash on the first lap but I didn't get the condition on the rider. He hope they are OK.

It was great to see all of our friends and visit with everyone. We really enjoyed talking with everyone and visiting for a while. We have had several people ask what we have been up to, and I am going to post an entry soon on what's been happening with the Rogers family in 2009. Although we haven't been racing, it's been anything but boring!

Be sure to check out the photos on our web page. Brenda got some great photos as usual. We hope you enjoy them. I got some photos, but I am still learning this photography stuff and it's not as easy as it looks!

Maybe we will see everyone soon, but honestly, it is going to have to cool down some to get me away from the lake!

In the meantime, take care, God Bless, later.............

SORCS Round Fourteen 2008

Bryan Cook wins the Battle
Rich
ie Brown wins the War!

Round Fourteen of the SORCS series was held on a cold sunny day at Aonia Pass Raceway Park. With rain falling before the race, everyone was hoping for a race free of dust and vision problems. Everyone got their wish, the track conditions were almost perfect. The track at Aonia turned out to be one of the best courses of the entire series. No dust, plenty of super-tight technical sections, open grass track, a little mud and more technical sections. Plenty of spectator vantage point made for great photo ops.

The Big Guns turned out for the Pro class including Bryan Cook, Richie Brown, Kaleb Nichulson, and John Mullaney. With 12 entrants in the Pro class, things were lining up for a great final race of the season. Everyone knew that Richie Brown and Bryan Cook would be doing everything possible to take the last win of the season. When you throw Nichulson and Mullaney in the mix as well as the regular SORCS pro lineup, you had twelve serious competitors aiming for a single slot. Richie Brown naturally wanted to win the race, however, he needed to finish the final race to insure the 2008 Championship. Who knows what was on his mind. It was clear after the first lap that Richie was throwing caution to the wind and going for it! When the flag dropped, it was the Big Four up front, Nichulson grabbed the holeshot, with a tight pack following closely. The excitement started early when Scott Rogers came off the line in last place, and Max Seagraves got a terrible start as well. Then in the second turn, Zach Lovell tangled with two other riders. When the Pro class came by our pits, it was Richie in first, Bryan in second, I think Nichulson was in third and Scott had worked his way up to fourth! Cam was charging through the pack after a bottleneck slowed down his momentum. Zach was charging trying to make up time from his early problems. Blake Strickland was running in fifth place.
The competition in this race was unbelievable, everywhere you looked you could see a battle going on. Scott and Blake were glued to each other, Richie and Bryan were battling early on, while Cam and Zach were charging through the pack. As things settled down up front, with Bryan, Richie, Scott and Blake up front, Cam and Zach settled in to the job of charging to the front. It was truly fun watching them race. They were riding like men possessed. I think they were nose to tail the entire race. I saw them making passes in the woods and it was so much fun to watch. Cam has won races and finished higher than he did in Aonia, but I think the last two races (Rock Crusher and Aonia) have been his best races to date. He rode hard, never let up and charged the entire race. His efforts were rewarded at the completion of the race.
Scott set a great second lap and was running a good pace and then he got personal with a tree. It took his bumper halfway off, so the stopped to remove it. Getting back in the race in fifth place, he started trying to make up time. Then, while running down a fast stretch of track, one of the lady competitors crashed hard in front of him. She crashed hard and Scott stopped to check on her. She was hurt pretty bad and her quad was twisted up too. Scott stayed with her until she was able to get on the quad and get going again. I think Scott lost about five minutes on this lap. Back at the pits we were getting a little worried, but when the other riders came past us, no one yelled out any info about Scott being injured. Michael Tatum set out to look for Scott and a little while later he came by running a pretty good speed, but way behind and without a front bumper. By the way, we would like to thank the people that brought Scott's bumper to the pits, we really appreciate it!

When the checkered flag dropped, it was Bryan Cook taking 1st, Richie Brown was 2nd, Blake Strickland came home 3rd, running a great race. Max Seagraves finished 4th with Cam taking a well earned 5th place. Right behind Cam was Zach Lovell finishing 6th, and Scott finished a respectable 7th place. Michael Hayes finished 8th, Trevor Schrantz placed 9th, with John Mullaney rounding out the top 10. Kaleb Nichulson finished 11th, with Brad Thompson finishing 12th. The pro class was very competitive with some great racing. Congratulations go out to Bryan Cook for taking an impressive win, for Richie taking 2nd, and to Blake Strickland setting a blistering place finishing 3rd. It was especially nice watching Cam and Zach battle for a majority of the race. Even though Scott finished 7th, he had a good couple of laps and we know he did the right thing by stopping for the injured rider. We also want to especially congratulate Richie Brown. By our calculations, Richie captured the Pro Series Championship! Congrats Richie!!! Good job. Two big thumbs up goes to Blake Strickland for finishing 2nd in the Championship. Of course these results are not official and we will have the official results as soon as SORCS releases them.

Results for other classes were:
Senior class win goes to Michael Newsom Sr, with David Aman taking 2nd. The Quad Utility class went to Shad Martin, and Damon Gentry took 2nd. The Quad Vet class went to Heath Worlock and Brian Schrantz finished 2nd. Kristy Fortenberry won the womens class and Kristen DeLoach took 2nd place. Kendall Taylor was 3rd, Kelly DeLoach finished 4th and Shanna Mello took 5th. The Quad Beginner winner was Kile Cox, with Levi Scott finishing 2nd. Chuck Norris took first in the Quad A class and Tommy Jenks won the Quad B race, with Brett Sane 2nd.

After the race several of the teams gather at Ryan's for a great meal before hitting the road. It was a fun race and a great day. We were able to visit with our friends have a great time and enjoy the wonderful, if not just a little chilly, weather. Brenda and Roxan trampled through the woods to get some great pics! Check out the CSR Racing Gallery for over 500 photos. Brenda even let me take a few pics this time. We hope you enjoy them. CSR Racing would also like to thank our great sponsors!

Check out our sponsor page and click on the links to visit their sites. They are a great group of people and we really appreciate them. We really can't thank them enough for all the great support that they give us throughout the year.

Well, now the racing season is over, time to start thinking about Thanksgiving and Christmas. Plus, we gotta get working on rebuilding all the bikes! Hopefully, we'll get a chance to see everyone during some of the winter races. Besides, next year will be here before you know it.

In the mean time, take care, God Bless, later..........

2008 Alabama Fall Team Race

Rogers and Strickland Win Again!

On October 25th, Blake Strickland and Scott Rogers with Wally and Susan Strickland, headed to Alabama for a Endurance Team Race. With heavy rains falling the day before, they really did not know what to expect, however they already had a goal for the race, win the team race and win big!

Luckily the previous days rain was just right. The entire race was run with no dust, a few water crossings and perfect conditions. The race was a fifty mile endurance race ran on a five mile course, with open sections, woods, plenty of rocks, log crossings, and water. With their plan mapped out, Blake Strickland lined up for the start of the race. The plan was for Blake to jump out to an early lead and he followed the plans perfectly. Blake got a great start on his KTM World sponsored KTM 525 XC taking the holeshot and leading the first lap. He quickly handed the race over to Scott with a good lead. Scott set off to on lap two charging hard and attempting to extend the lead. Scott was setting a blistering pace when, after landing from a jump his tether switch shut down his Shamrock Honda, Moose Racing, Bearden Race Fuel, GT Thunder sponsored TRX 450R. He quickly restarted the bike and continued on.

Blake and Scott maintained a healthy lead until lap four. On the fourth lap, they opened it up and started setting an unbelievable pace. They were in a groove and hitting all the marks spot on! Every lap they were putting distance on the rest of the field. Wally and Susan Strickland were handling pit duties and they had everything set and ready to go. The race swaps were handled like clockwork. As the laps built, the lead increased until at the end of the race, Blake and Scott had a 9 minute lead on second place, setting some of their fastest laps as the race drew to a close.

Things were going so well they didn't want the race to end. But end it did, with the team taking the checkered flag and first place!
CSR Racing would like to congratulate Blake and Scott on a great race win! On and off the track, these two competitors represent their sponsors in a very professional manner. They compete hard, race hard, and raise the bar to a very high level. They take the competition seriously but have a great time doing it. Brenda and I would also like to thank Susan and Wally for pitting for Scott and for your wonderful hospitality. Scott would also like to thank his sponsors. We feel that CSR Racing has the best sponsors in the business and are proud to be representing them. We invite you to visit our sponsor page and check out the sponsors web sites. We use these products because they work and have proven to be able to handle the rigors of cross country racing.

Soon we will have some sponsorship news for the 2009 season. Stay tuned.

Take time to visit the photo gallery for some great pics.

Hope to see you at the races soon! Take care, God Bless, later...........

SORCS Round Twelve 2008

"Ironman" Richie Brown wins big!
Cam was serious Pro Class competition.

Lately, every time I attend a racing event, I think I have seen adverse conditions. That is, until the next event! Round 12 of the 2008 SORCS series has got to rank with the top dustiest races of all time. Some of us were trying to determine which was worse, the Rock Crusher mud or dust. We couldn't come up with a clear winner. We could, however come up with a clear winner of the race.
Richie Brown didn't just win the race, he owned it! Richie jumped out to the lead and at times was 2 to 4 minutes ahead of the competition. Now that would be a story in itself, but to add icing to the cake, he ran most of the race with two flat tires! There is not much else to tell of Richies victory. He was hitting all the right marks, setting a blistering pace and came out on top.If I can't see a member of CSR Racing take the win, I'll take Richie. He has got to be one of the nicest, most humble, and genuinely friendly people racing today. Congratulations Richie, great race. As always we are proud of you.
What has got to be the surprise of the race, a very pleasant surprise I might add, was Cam's results. The final tally doesn't show the real picture. The Pro class is ultra competitive. Always has been. Recently Cam moved up to the Pro Class. In round 12, he got off the line in fifth place, with Brian Toney in fourth and Adam Miles in second and I believe Trevor Schrantz was in third. Before the halfway point, he had moved into fourth and was battling with Brian Toney for third. I think that was one of the highlights of his racing career. He said it was a blast racing Toney. He was impressed with Toney's clean racing style. He said they raced hard but clean. At the half way point Cam was charging in third. Adam had some kind of problem and had to pit. That put Cam in second place between Richie Brown and Brian Toney! Talk about stoked! This wasn't just a fluke, Cam was flying. He was setting some quick lap times. Every lap was faster than the last. He looked in control and relaxed. Every lap got faster but, yep here's the but, they started running into lapped riders. About half a lap to the checkered flag, a lapped rider stopped right in the middle of a dusty track! Cam crashed hard. This is the second time in two races. Cam said he tried several time to let the rider know he was going to pass. Several times during the race I saw "competitors", and I use that term loosley, stop in the middle of the track! People, this is a RACE not a Sunday ride. If you are having trouble, get off the track. If you are scared, hold your line and move over the Pro's will find a way around you. If you can't take the pressure, find another hobby where you will not be taking other people's life in your own hands. This is serious and Eddie should address this. I'm sure he will in future events. This sport is dangerous enough without people needlessly adding to the danger. I can't predict the future, but I am fairly confident if Cam had not had the altercation with the lapper, he would have had his first second place finish in the Pro class. That being said, we are happy that he wasn't hurt and showed his ability to run and seriously compete in the Pro Class. As a result of the crash, Cam was passed by Max Seagraves and Brian Toney. Cam crossed the line in a solid fourth. Congratulations Cam. We are very proud of your results!
Scott didn't fare too well. He got a bad start, and on one of the uphill sections, stalled amist a sea of like riders. In trying to refire his quad, he stated that he felt like he was breathing nothing but thick dust. With a couple flat tires and the fact that he couldn't breathe, Scott made the wise decision to cut his losses and find his way back to the pits. With the extreme dust, he just couldn't see fighting it for a 5th or 6th place finish, especially when he wasn't fighting for points. Trevor Schrantz was having a great run until engine problems forced him into early retirement. Zach Lovell also had problems in addition to the blinding dust. Michael Hayes, and Adam Miles finished 5th and 6th. The dust was absolutely terrible, I don't think any of us could beathe until the were south of Atlanta. In spite of Scott not having a good race, we know he has plenty of wins left in him, in spite of what Cam says. Plus Scott got us home safely and in record time!
In other classes, Adam Coffey won the A Class, with Chuck Norris taking 2nd, Brad Thompson 3rd and our friend Austin Allen placing 4th. Jody Waldrop won the B Class. Brian Schrantz cruised home to a first place finish in the Quad Vet class, with David Aman winning Quad Senior, Tim Smith 2nd, Michael Newsom Sr. placing 3rd, and Dennis Johnson finishing 4th. Quad C winner was Johnny Pilkey, Levi Scott won the Quad Beginner class, Shad Martin took the Quad Utility win. Kristy Fortenberry won the Quad Women class with Kendall Taylor 2nd and our buddy Leila Parton taking 3rd. Unfortunately, not present at the event was Blake Strickland and his family. It is always a pleasure to see all of our racing friends and we are sorry that Blake wasn't in attendance. Oh, Luke tell your better half THANKS for taking the video. Cam really enjoyed it! It was great visiting with everyone. In spite of the extreme dust, we had the pleasure of one of the best renditions of our National Anthem I have ever heard. Mrs. Rogers did a great job! She is a class act with a beautiful voice.

In spite of the dusty conditions, Brenda was still able to get some great pics!

As always we would like to thank our great sponsors. Please visit our sponsor page and check them out. They are a great asset to our racing effort and we couldn't do it without them. We couldn't ask for better sponsor support. We can honestly say that we would wholeheartedly recommend all of our sponsors to any of our racing friends. We would never accept sponsorship from any company that isn't a positive supporter of the sport. CSR Racing is very thankful for our sponsors and both Cam and Scott try very hard to represent their sponsors in a professional attitude at all times.

Until next time, stay safe, stay in touch, and God Bless. Later.........

SORCS Round Seven 2008

Richie Brown Charges to a Big Win
Cam joins the Pro Ranks

Round seven of the SORCS series was held in Aonia Raceway near Washington, GA. This is the location of Cam's first big win. A couple of years ago Cam had a big, runaway win in a super competitive race. Even though we are running a limited schedule this year, we could not miss this race. Besides, we were missing our racing friends so we had to show up and catch up on what was going on in the racing community.
Since we are not chasing a championship this year, Cam decided to sign up in the Pro ATV class. Hey, why not, we are just racing for fun and many of his friends race in the Pro class. And it would have turned out really good except for a couple of problems. Three problems actually, however it was a good learning experience and I think now Cam is ready to compete in the Pro class. It was a good test session and we found out that his endurance is up to the task.

When the Pro class left the line, it was Richie Brown, Brian Toney, and Blake Strickland to the first turn in a tight group, with Richie and Brian bouncing off each other. Cam got a great start and had a good line but, the first problem reared it's ugly head, a missed shift cost precious time and the came into the first turn in a cloud of dust and playing catch-up. It was a very dry dusty race. Did I mention that it was HOT? On the completion of the first lap, it was Brian Toney with a good lead, Richie in second, Blake Strickland 3rd and Zach Lowell in fourth. Cam was running about eighth place on the first lap. On lap 2, it was pretty much the same, Richie had made up some time on Brian and cam was moving up. By lap three, Richie was close enough to call it a race between he and Brian. Cam had moved up to fifth place and was running really good. He looked smoother than usual. I was thinking " a top five in his first Pro race, not bad!" On the next-to-last lap, Richie was glued to Brian and he finally made his move. Cam came into the pits asking for water. This is when I learned about problem number two. His camelback had malfunctioned and he had ran the whole race in the extreme heat with no water! After the water stop, he charged to re-take fifth place that was being held by our good friend Trevor Schrantz. They were in a fast dusty section, when they came upon a lapper. The lapper saw Trevor and moved over. After Trevor passed the lapped rider moved in front of Cam and he hit the quad at race speed. The impact knocked both quads into the trees. If you are keeping count, yep this was problem number three. With a stalled and stuck quad, Cam thought it was over, however he regained his composure got back on the track and charged for the last lap. We'll take sixth. Nobody got hurt, he felt good after the race, even with no water and the bike handled great. Richie won the event, with Brian taking second and Blake Strickland finished 3rd. Zach had a solid finish for fourth, it being one of his first races after his wrist injury. Zach looked to be in good form. Trevor had a good finish in 5th, and Cam finished 6th. We had some friends come up to be with us during the event. Rocky and Roxan Stuckey came to enjoy the event and we really enjoyed having them in our pits. They saw a good, but dusty race!
