SORCS Round 6 2007

Zach Takes Garland Farms

Round 6 of the SORCS series, held at Garland Farms, was typical 2007 conditions;
Dust, dust and more dust. To top it all off, it was HOT! As the Pro Quad class took off, it was Zach Lovell grabbing the holeshot, with Scott Rogers in second and Trevor Schrantz bringing up third. The orderer they entered the woods was the order they would cross the checkered flag. As the Pros came around for the first lap, Zach had the lead with four other riders in a cloud of dust. With a clear track in front of him, Zach held the lead for the entire race. Congratulations to Zach and his crew for capturing his first win of 2007.

Scott Rogers finished the race in second place. Coming off the line in second place, Scott held the spot throughout the race, holding off challenges from several competitors. Scott stated that the dust was so bad, at times he could not see the track, he was merely staying between the trees! Actually, round 6 was typical of this years races. The track was tough, challenging, with plenty of pit parking. It was well organized, and had all the ingredients of a super race, with the exception of the extreme dust. Hopefully, the weather will change and we will see more races like round 5.

In the ATV A Class, it was Max Seagraves capturing the win. Round five was actually looking like a real race in the A class until Austin Allen had mechanical problems with his YFZ and had to pull off the track. Austin was charging hard and giving Max a real run. Second place was taken by Chuck Norris Jr. and Cam took third place. Cam rode his best race of the season at Garland Farms. He said he loved the track and was charging hard. I look for Cam to continue to charge and pick up more speed as the season continues. I am looking forward to see Austin pick up where he left off. He has a good season and before long, it will all come together and he will get his win. We wish Austin the best of luck and really hope that he has his quad ready for round seven.

Michael Tatum was sporting a new Honda TRX 450 for the event. Mike look smooth on the new ride. I think he had fun too. Seth Newman finished forth in beginner class.

In bike action, Phil Bearden returned to SORCS competition to get a first place in his class. Bill Bryant took 5th in his class. I believe Jeff Hill got second in his class also.

Our good friends Julie Stokes and Brad Lord showed up and hung out with us. It was really good to see Julie and catch up. She is hoping to compete in a few of the remaining races, and then prepare for the entire 2008 season. It was good to see Brad, we are hoping to see him out on the course soon.

I have to apologize, I really don't have a lot of the competitors finishes for this race. It was very hot and dusty, and when the race was over, I was ready to check out and get a huge glass of tea! The heat and dust was just a little too much. We are looking forward to seeing all our friends at Round 7.

Until next time, take care, God bless, and we will see you soon.....
